London Business School success in Dubai

Inaugural Dubai-London Executive MBA starts in September

The inaugural London Business School Dubai-London Executive MBA (EMBA) programme commences on 5 September 2007 and will be taught at the Dubai International Financial Centre.

It is the first programme of its kind offered in the region by a leading business school and is the first time London Business School has set up its own programme outside of the UK.

Professor Zeger Degraeve, London Business School’s Faculty Director, Dubai, said he was delighted with the immense success of the innovative EMBA programme in Dubai, which has attracted 78 high calibre candidates.  “The strong demand is evidenced by the fact that we had over 3,000 enquiries and over 450 applications for the inaugural programme,” Professor Degraeve said.

“While the Dubai-London EMBA is the first masters degree in business we have offered in the region, it is our intention to expand our offering to include Executive Education and other degree programmes in the future.

“London Business School enjoys excellent links with the Middle East and has a strong commitment to the region which has undoubtedly emerged as a booming economic and creative centre. Over the past five years we have hosted four Worldclass events in the Middle East featuring our Dean and leading faculty and we look forward to hosting our fifth Worldclass in Dubai this November,” he said.

The 16-month, dual campus EMBA programme will be taught by London Business School faculty and leads to an MBA degree from the School.  The strategic location of Dubai, with its access to the Middle East, India and Africa, has been chosen to complement the other international programmes run by the School.  These include a dual EMBA with Columbia Business School in New York – the EMBA-Global - and an MBA partnership with Hong Kong University.

Lyn Hoffman, Associate Dean for Executive MBA Programmes at London Business School, said, "Our continuing goal is to be the leading global business school, and the addition of the Dubai-London EMBA to our portfolio is a signal to high-calibre individuals and organisations everywhere that an Executive MBA from London Business School, whether it is taught in London, New York or Dubai, is the platform for sustained success in today’s complex, global and interdependent world.”
