In a new podcast, Sabine Vinck, Associate Dean of Finance Programmes, talks about the extensive portfolio of finance programmes offered at London Business School, including the flagship Masters in Finance (MiF) degree programme.
Given the School’s unique position - with one of the largest groups of finance faculty, located in a financial centre like London - there is little wonder that the School has consolidated its position as a leading provider of finance education. It attracts the best students from all over the world - the most recent MiF class has 145 students from 40 countries - as well as partnership recognition from bodies like the CFA. Alumni go on to achieve high levels of success - indeed 99% of last year's class were in full-time employment within three months of graduation.
In this interview, Sabine Vinck discusses the MiF in detail. Describing it as a generalist programme in a specialised field, she points to the large growth in the programme base - from 120 - 140 students with the average GMAT up by 20 points (now at 690). But what remains most important is the quality of the teaching on the MiF. New up-to-date electives in hedge funds, private equity and credit risk show how aligned the teaching is to what is happening in the industry and in practice.
The interview also focuses on the large range of evening programmes run by the Finance Programmes Office. These short courses offer an excellent option for those particpants who don’t want to do a full-time degree programme, or who wish to learn about one particular area in-depth, but who don’t want to sacrifice on quality of teaching. All programmes are spun off from modules from the MiF. As such, they cover the same material in the same depth and are taught with high rigour, by the same leading faculty who teach on the MiF.
