Excellence and awards

In addition to a prolific research output in top-flight journals, Decision Sciences faculty also regularly win awards for research and teaching, demonstrating leadership in their fields; for example, in the last year:

  • Bert De Reyck, Zeger Degraeve, together with their doctoral student Pascale Crama: have won the Fifth Annual INFORMS Case Competition 2004, with their recent case study on 'Project Portfolio Management at Novartis Pharma'.

  • John Morecroft: Supervised winner of Student Prize of the UK Chapter of the System Dynamics Society, Dr Mark Ratnarajah (JEMBA 2004), for his EMBA management report. Plenary presentation at the annual conference of the System Dynamics Society at Keble College, Oxford in July.

  • Derek Bunn: Opening keynote addresses to the European Electricity Markets 2004 conference, in Poland, (Sept.) and the European International Association of Energy Economists conference in Zurich. Keynote talk on 'Modelling and Forecasting Electricity Prices' at 24th International Forecasting Symposium, Sydney (July 2004).

  • Kristin Fridgeirsdottir: Junior Faculty Teaching Award, 2003-2004.

  • A-V DeMiguel: Junior Faculty Teaching Award, 2003-2004.
