Professor Elroy DimsonDirector – Elroy Dimson
BGI Professor of Investment Management at London Business School

Elroy Dimson is BGI Professor of Investment Management at London Business School where he has served as Governor, chair of the Finance and of the Accounting areas, and Dean of the full-time and Executive MBA programmes.  He has held visiting positions at the Bank of England and the Universities of Chicago, California (Berkeley), Hawaii and Geneva, and has served on the boards of pension and endowment funds. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Financial Economists Roundtable, an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, and Past President of the European Finance Association. Co-author (with Paul Marsh and Mike Staunton) of Triumph of the Optimists, published by Princeton University Press, his research focuses on investment strategy and on the management of endowments and foundations. He has advised foundations and endowments across Europe and the United States. His latest book, with Shanta Acharya, is Endowment Asset Management, to be published in early 2007 by Oxford University Press.

Shanta Acharya is Associate Director of the Initiative on Foundation and Endowment Asset Management at London Business School. Previously, she worked as an investment professional in Morgan Stanley Asset Management, Swiss Bank Corporation Portfolio Management International, Baring Asset Management and Bank of Ireland Asset Management. She holds a D.Phil from Oxford and was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard. An alum of the London Business School, she is author of Asset Management: Equities Demystified (Wiley, 2002) and Investing in India (Macmillan Business, 1998). Her forthcoming book, with Elroy Dimson, is Endowment Asset Management: Investment Strategies in Oxford and Cambridge to be published by Oxford University Press in 2007.
