Alexander Gorbenko

Assistant Professor of Finance

MA (New Economic School, Moscow), PhD (Stanford)

Dr Alexander Gorbenko became an Assistant Professor of Finance at London Business School in 2010. In the same year he obtained a Finance PhD from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He also holds degrees from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (an MSc in Applied Mathematics and Physics, graduated in 2004) and New Economic School, Moscow (an MA in Economics, graduated in 2005).

His research interests are capital structure, financial auctions, mergers and acquisitions, and industrial organisation.

Dr Gorbenko has had research papers published in the American Economic Review, the Journal of Finance, and the Review of Financial Studies. Alexander has been awarded the NASDAQ OMX Award for the best asset pricing paper by the Western Finance Association and the Best Paper Award at the Mitsui Symposium on Finance. He teaches at the Masters in Management (MiM) program and has been awarded the MiM 2014 Best Teacher Award.
