Emerging Leaders Programme
Content
The Emerging Leaders Programme gives you a broader strategic understanding of the business, greater self-awareness and the enhanced skills to make things happen. Participants gain the capability, credibility and confidence to influence key stakeholders in order to make things happen beyond the immediate scope of their role.
1.Developing self-awareness
Developing a critical understanding of yourself and the impact you have on other people is key to becoming effective as you progress in your management career. The Emerging Leaders Programme will give you a powerful picture of who you are and how others interpret your actions. Working with your peers in cross-cultural teams to achieve results gives you a unique chance to use and improve your skills in influencing and directing others. Crucially, you'll be given feedback from skilled coaches on your team interaction so that you can define specific learning objectives.
2. Applying business know-how
At this stage in your career, you need to understand your contribution to the broader strategic objectives of your company, to develop innovative solutions in your business environment that deliver value. You'll appreciate how different areas of the organisation connect, understanding the contribution of other functional management areas. As a result, you'll be able to see how your personal area of responsibility fits with the strategic direction of the business. The Emerging Leaders Programme takes your new knowledge and pushes you to apply this in a variety of practical assignments. The strategic audit and business simulation will enable you to integrate the functional management areas, encouraging you to use more rigour and consistency in your business decision-making.
3. Making things happen
The less experienced manager tends to succeed through sound technical skills and strong motivation to get the job done themselves. Making the transition to a management role requires a step-change in performance and the ability to make things happen through other people. Achieving results becomes a matter of creating a common understanding of the task at hand as well as setting ambitious and achievable objectives as a team. The Emerging Leaders Programme will help you to understand your team responsibilities and the shifts in behaviour required to become truly effective. Hands-on experience of working in a virtual team and guided support from skilled coaches will help you build a sense of your value, boost your confidence in your managerial knowledge and build your leadership skills. The programme sessions cover fundamental knowledge of how individuals and teams function in organisations, focusing on the skills needed to take effective action.

- Feasibility study
You'll be assigned a company to investigate, giving you the opportunity to apply your new strategic knowledge and industry analysis skills. You and your team will prepare an audit report, combining your business know-how and skills acquired from the first week of the programme. Each group will then present its findings to the rest of the class and faculty members. - Business simulation in virtual teams
You'll work together to build your market share within a simulated industry situation. To succeed as a company, you must develop an integrated approach to problem solving and work together efficiently and effectively as a team, whilst spread across the globe. Producing competitor analysis and financial plans, you'll work to refine your strategy to meet the challenges of a changing and competitive environment. The practical application of skills ensures that the insights learned in the classroom are understood and immediately usable in your workplace. The simulation runs between the two residential modules and you will use London Business School's virtual learning environment to share information and work with your team members around the world. - Workplace challenges
You'll be asked to find an assignment where you can apply your new business knowledge back in the workplace. Between the modules you'll then have the opportunity to discuss your challenge with your line manager and find a sponsor to help you implement the project. Returning for the second module you'll report back on your progress. Companies who nominate small groups of participants can tailor a group assignment specific to their business.
