Shaping entrepreneurial opportunities

The Entrepreneurship Summer School is designed to support thorough exploration of a business opportunity in a practical format. It serves two markets:

• Individuals wanting to develop their new venture idea 
• Graduate students around the world wanting to take charge of their own destiny

The tangible outcomes include the development of skills to assess and shape an opportunity and the presentation of your conclusions to a panel of angel investors in the form of a customer driven feasibility study. Based on increased knowledge you will also be able to make the decision as to whether being an entrepreneur is for you.

You will test the feasibility of your ideas through active research in your proposed market and learn what it will take to turn those ideas into fundable business opportunities. Each of you will be assigned a mentor from the entrepreneurial community in London - or elsewhere, if you intend to pursue your field research outside the UK. They will guide and assist you in the development of the opportunity, opening doors, resolving stumbling blocks and serving as sounding boards.

With one week of intensive study at the beginning of the course, a day and a half in August and a final presentation and course wrap up in early September, it is an ideal chance to test the commercial feasibility of your ideas without disruption to your current activities. And by working under the guidance of a mentor and thorough contact with numerous panellists and guest speakers, you'll develop real insights into whether the entrepreneurial path is for you.

London Business School also runs a 5-day course called Financing the Entrepreneurial Business.  This is run by the Finance Subject Area and taught by two of the Entrepreneurship Faculty members.

Financing the Entrepreneurial Business is a unique programme for experienced professionals securing or providing finance for fast-growth business. Along with vast networking opportunities, participants gain the practical skills to master every stage of the deal cycle from investment through to exit strategies.
