How to apply

Next deadline: See application timetable below
Next start date: September 2015

  • What we need from you
    • A completed online application form, which can be saved and completed over time.

    • Your application essays – are your opportunity to tell us more about yourself and detail your interests, values and goals. We are interested in what motivates you, evidence of leadership and team work, why you are looking to pursue a Masters in Management, and what you will bring to the LBS community.

      Essays are a vital part of your application and we recommend that you spend a significant amount of time in their preparation. They must be specific to the current application and personal statements will not be accepted in lieu of the essays.

    • GMAT (range of 600-800) / GRE (equivalent score). Candidates with exceptional academic performance may be considered for a waiver. Read our FAQ page for more information about our GMAT/GRE waiver policy. Practise the GMAT test with London Business School's GMAT simulator and prepare yourself for the real thing.

      Our institution codes are:

      GMAT = Z11-J7-40

      GRE = 3805

    • A one page CV. We recommend that you use our CV template. Follow the instructions within the online application form to attach the document to your application.

    • Names and details of two referees. Preferably one academic and one professional provided in the online system.

    You also need to send us

    • Proof of your English Language ability –  If English is not your native language, or if you have not been studying fully in English or living in an English-speaking country for at least two years, please submit your IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge CPE, CAE or PTE Academic score. Other tests will not be accepted.

      Download proving your English language ability (PDF, 100 KB) for guidance.

    • Application fee – £90 for the programme beginning September 2014 (non-refundable). Payable online by credit card upon submission of your application.

      Your application will remain incomplete and will not be reviewed until the correct fee is received. An application fee waiver is available to graduates of the University of London upon production of your degree transcript.

    • A copy of your university transcript(s) – including a comprehensive record of completed courses, grades and class of degree received and, if possible, a class ranking. We cannot review your application without this information. If your transcript is not in English you must provide a certified or notarised English translation.

      If you have not yet completed your degree you will need to request a transcript that is current at the time of applying. Admitted students will be required to provide original copies upon the programme start.

  • Latest application timetable
    Offers are made throughout the year and the recommended dates below are a guide of when you can expect to hear from us. In order to adapt to logistics and special circumstances, the Admissions Committee reserves the right to send decisions outside of these recommended deadlines, and in order to ensure this flexibility in this process, decisions may be sent on a rolling basis at any point throughout the year. Applicants can expect to receive a decision within six to eight weeks, and you must submit all required documents, including essays, GMAT/GRE, references and transcript(s) by the recommended deadline for you to be considered within that time frame. The deadline is determined by when your application is complete, not when it is submitted. Please note that interviews conducted by alumni may take longer to coordinate, and the scheduling of your interview will not affect your application.

    The recommended deadlines for the 2015 intake (MiM2016 class) are:

  • What to expect after you have submitted your application
    • Apply as early as possible for the best chance of achieving a place. In most cases you will receive a final decision within six to eight weeks of submitting your completed application.

    • We apply the same selection throughout the admissions cycle but competition is often more intense in the final months.

    • Interviews conducted by alumni may take longer to coordinate, and the scheduling of your interview will not affect your application.

    • You must submit all required documents, including essays, GMAT/GRE, references and transcript(s) by the recommended deadline for you to be considered within that timeframe. Your application will be reviewed when it is completed, not just submitted, and failure to submit a complete application means that your file is placed on hold and a delay in your receiving a decision.

    • Allow yourself sufficient time to prepare your application thoroughly. Carefully consider your answers to the essay questions, elect your referees and prepare for the GMAT/GRE.

    • We operate a waitlist system and waitlist applicants receive regular updates at scheduled dates. Each year a number of waitlist candidates are successful in getting a place on the programme.

    • All decisions are communicated via email. We are not able to discuss a candidate's decision over the phone, or with anyone other than the applicant. We will contact you directly should any document or information be missing.
